Mr John Hendry (Organist & Choirmaster)


               John Hendry was born in Kent and took a music degree at Edinburgh University, the lecturers including Kenneth Leighton. As a boy chorister he took part in recordings and concerts under, amongst others, Sir Adrian Boult and Benjamin Britten. On graduating he became involved in the making of the Scottish Clarsach (small Harp), and worked on instruments for the Vienna Concentus Musicus, Zurich Opera and figures in the folk field such as Derek Bell of the Chieftains, Mary O'Hara and Alison Kinnaird. He is at present Director of Music at The Skinners' Grammar School for Boys in Tunbridge Wells, and has been for nineteen years organist and choirmaster of St. John's Parish Church, Sevenoaks.
